Women Fight Outside Melbourne Magistrates Court - Doused With Capsicum Spray - Blind Man Taken to Hospital

A verbal altercation involving two women and a man inside the Melbourne Magistrates Court Building on William Street in Melbourne has spilled out onto the street and ended in capsicum spray being used on three people.

The incident occurred early on Thursday afternoon when the two women were involved in a verbal then physical altercation with a man after a court hearing. The fight spilled out onto the street with protective officers stepping in to break up the fight. They needed to use capsicum spray to control the women.

A man who was partially blind then stepped in to continue the fight, swinging his cane at the officers and spitting on them. The 52 year old man also needed to be doused with capsicum spray.

Subsequent to the incident, the blind man experienced chest pain and needed to be taken by ambulance to the St Vincent's Hospital. He is reported to be in a stable condition.

The two women involved in the fight have received summary assault charges and will need to appear in court at a later date.
