P Plate Accident - Three Dead Teens After Car Hits Power Pole on Great Western Highway at Colyton near St Marys - Deceased were 19, 17 and 15
Just three weeks ago in Mill Park, Melbourne, a car carrying six people slammed into a tree in the early hours on a Sunday morning. Five young men were killed. The driver was 19 and the car was a Ford XR6.
A similar tragedy has struck in Sydney, with three people killed and two sustaining serious injuries, when the car they were travelling in hit a power pole on the Great Western Highway. The driver again was 19 and the car...a Ford XR6.
The accident occurred at about 3.15am on Sunday when the Ford sedan left the Great Western Highway and hit the electricity pole.
Emergency services were notified and found a 17 year old male passenger dead at the scene. The driver, 19 from Dean Park as well as a 15 year old girl from Bidwell died later from their injuries.
The other two passengers, a 17 year old girl and a 16 year old girl from Oakhurst are receiving treatment in hospital. Both require surgery for serious leg injuries.
Police closed the Great Western Highway for a number of house to conduct investigations.
They are calling for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the black XR6 on the highway before the crash to contact police through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

when will the authorities stop young kids driving high powered cars?
i thought it was illigal for young P platers to drive high powered cars. ???? This should be policed more.
what happened to the p plate laws of driving high powered cars and only having one passenger in the vehicle between certain times??? this accident could have been prevented, and clearly young drivers need more experience driving in different types of weather conditions!
they were drag racing the commodore that was behind them...i know this from a very close friend of theres,whom is a relative of mine also a teen herself SO TO THE GUTLESS FRIEND WHO LOST THE RACE AND A FEW FRIENDS OWN UP TO IT MATE!!!!

Its only illegal for P platers to drive turbo cars. And an XR6 isnt illegal for P platers to drive, unless the car was infact a turbo which it doesnt say that so dont make assumtions. And to the person above who suggests young drivers need more experience in different weather conditions, it doesnt matter how old or experienced you are, acidents can happen to anyone no matter what.
I was a friend of Kels, the 15 year old girl who died. So its highly appreciate if you kept comments like that to yourself. Be respectful not rude by making comments like that.

All teenages driving cars should have their cars speed limited, they do it to truck drivers with alot more driving hours and experience than the pour young people that have lost their lives in this and other accidents. My family and I feel the pain of this accident and our hearts go out to their families and friends.No one should throw the blame onto any one until they know all the facts and then should still keep their comments to them selves.What a tragic thing for their families to go through. I live on the highway, just down a little further from where the accident happened and i travelled along that same spot, same lane in the rain doing the speed limit around 1am the same morning and there was no danger as it is a straight stretch of road and not a lot of cars travelling along there,also there was not a build up of water from the rain which could have pushed the car over so what happened, were they drag racing, that happens alot on the highway, we see it all the time. i feel for the families, but why were there 5 people in a P car. I thought that was a no no.
lol all this talk about high powered cars im a p plater i drive a bmw 750il its a v12 and its legle i have a ACT licence and stop blameing p platers with high powered cars all the fatality crashes over the hollerdays where adoults the only one that was a p plater was jay guy so back the fuck up off the p platers and high powered cars so what if it was a ford xr6 turbo it only puts out 220kw a bmw m3 puts out 250 and it aint turbo so there you go it was just a bad time and because it was a p plater every one is going to jump down ow throughts thats only 2 this year that are p platers and 24 that aint and more p platers drive then any one als excludiong trucks
I do NOT know any of the young lives that were taken in this terrible accident. Lets put aside for the moment, P platers, speeding, weather conditions, 5 people in the car etc etc.. These kids where sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, grandkids, neices, nephews etc etc, take the time to reflect on there lives, the police can do all the other investigating.. May they all RIP, may the 2 other girls recover and may the family and friends find the stregth to move with their lives.. RIP x
i agery i to have a act licence and its legit so is victoria and taz just not nsw and qld and sa and perth and nsw is more fucked up thay are following NZ in there rules it aint the power of cars some of the roads have stupied groves and when it rains can send u off it can happen to the best of us i just have respect for the road but iv seen more people blame p platers so now thay aint get the training thay should thay should have road ready like act and do the hours and no v8s till 2nd year ps as nsw call it
Nobody under 25 should be allowed to drive. Our roads are there to share and use responsibly but they don't. Take a look at every hotted up lowered piece of crap with music thumping and you will find an under 25 behind the wheel. You only need to look at insurance pricing to know the demographic that has the problem - the figures simply don't lie. As for the 'tool' with the BMW750, your so lame you make me laugh.

the rules for passengers in p plate cars need to be changed so passengers dont die in cars between 11pm to 5am...a 3.15am accident was not the police headline ...

I know two of these peopple. Speed was not a factor, the vehicle aqua planed. The commodore behind was his mate following him, NOT racing him. dont jump to conclusion coz you heard something off someone who heard something else. The fact he was a p plater had no factor in this at all. The fact is if you aqua plane. YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. (aqua planing is where the wheels of your car lift off the road due to excess water and start floating on the water, therefore 'no steering'). also only red p platers have a passenger limit. dont jump to conclusions... NOW theres an wxcuse for the news to attack p platers because they've been paid off to do so so police can make new laws to bring in revenue (money) from fines. if ur friends think they can race or want to race , tell them to take it to the track (its right there in eastern creek) the rmergrncy services are there on hand just in case of any incident

just for those who dont know.. it was GREEN P-Plate which means they CAN drive with more then 1 passenger after 11pm, n 4 the person who said they were travelling same spot bla bla bla at 1 am and it couldnt hav happend, wel i was travelling same spot around 3 am we just missed the crash we went 2 mount druitt and on the way back along the highway we seen it all (not the accident happen)but the car th ambulance fire brigade etc.. and yes it was pooring down and i even said 2 my partner slow down he was only doing 80kmh but it was way 2 fast 4 the conditions those 2 hrs *1 am when it happend at 3* r a big difference in the weather mate.. to the 3 that died r.i.p we would have been about 10 minz infront of yous accidents happen n its really opened my eyes n hopefully every1 else n all my love 2 the families, they wer all too young..

Three young, beauitful lives have been taken. Hearts are breaking at the momment, espically those who were there.
It was an accident and no matter how much experience you have in driving the wet weather conditions are always unpredicable.

I feel very sad for the family, friends and loved ones of the young people. I live in Colyton and have to drive past the scene each day. It is a very sad time for our community as well. God bless all the people involved and may he provide comfort support and healing for your broken hearts.
i drive my boy friends xr6 and im a p plater and people who are saying you cant are wrong and i feel for the family of th 2 boys and the girl. i used to live near they but move and i know how that road is
Being a P plater myself I have never been so much as pulled over for an RBT. Not all P plate drivers are irresponsible. To everyone also saying he was breaking the law by having 4 passengers... The law is that the curfew only applies to red P platers, he was in fact a green P plater hence no curfew.
I believe people need to be further educated on safe driving.
i am a 23 year old p plater of an xt ba falcon not an xr6 but its so close to it... its not the power behind the car that casues the accidents its the useless driver at the wheel who clearly cannot control a xr6 turbo.. and shouldnt of been at the wheel of the car. clearly had to be drag racing or being stupid in the wet weather. it goes to show the in experience kids behind high powered cars. i do not pump my music yes i have a sub but i also have young children i dont drive stupid and *touch wood* have neevr had an accident. i have driving v8 and v6 cars. if they cannot handle the power it brings should fo used there brains n slowed down. ya dont just vere off the road in the wet doesnt happen unless ya gas the car trying to show of infront of ur mates to look good. boy did he pay for it with his own life and 2 others its tragic for the family i dont know any of them. but im also sick of being labelled out when young drivers crash driver simliar cars (xr6). when mines just a 6. changing the law to 4 cylinder cars when the rest of us know how to drive and control a car is very very unfair... they shouold bring it in for under 21 year olds.. coz most crash's caused are from 21 and under. and 50 percent end up dead.! sad life. shouldnt of been stupid in the wet. n thats ali gota say.
This is so sad and devasting and I feel for the families and the friends, but this why making educated decisions is so important!
Kids you do have a choice! Voice your opinions! If you need to get home but some dickhead who wants to show off in his car is the guy who can get you home, call you parents or siblings someone who can pick you up or otherwise pay for a cab home! Why not pick up a pushbike?
On another note there has to be tighter restrictions for people registering cars, if the driver is a provisional license holder make the registration VOID! Don't allow these kids to drive high powered vehicles! It is not necessary and parents should never ever purchase one for their kids its ridiculous! Having to drive a shitbox does good for you and makes you realise that there isn't alot between you and the road. Also, even if you do 'aqau plane' you can't be doing such excessive speeds to cause such a major accident.
I drive past the scene everyday and it tears me to pieces but those are the choices people make.

i would just like to add to the people that are older and bagging out p platers about speeding i being an older p plater (started driving when i was 22) would like to add in that the ammount of fully liscenced ppl that speed past me at ridiculas speed is outrageous, maybe we should focus on all speeding because a fair few black licensed speed as well. stop looking down your noses. Thirstly my heart goes out to the familys and loved ones I am a green p plater and their is no way that I would be driving at 3am and what makes it worst he was doing 80 in heavy rain when most safe drivers would only do atleast 70 and the problem with p players is we don't think when we get behind the wheel.
