Man Assists Police After Three Suspicious Grass Fires in Upwey
A 52 year old man from Ferntree Gully is assisting police with their enquiries in relation to three suspicious grass fires on Tuesday afternoon. The fires came just days before the one year anniversary of the tragic Black Saturday bushfires.
Small grass fires were discovered burning between the Burwood Highway and the train line about 250 metres west of Morris Road at about 3.30pm on Tuesday. Emergency services were notified and were quickly on the scene.
The CFA was able to contain the fires, but found that they were suspicious and may have been deliberately lit.
