Speeding Drivers Caught In School Zones

Police Nab 10 Speeding Drivers Outside Melbourne School

A traffic operation by police in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton has nabbed 10 drivers for speeding in a reduced speed school zone. The operation was conducted in just one hour (8am-9am Tuesday) outside a school in Nicholson Street, between Gertude and Carlton Streets.

All of the drivers were issued with fines of $234 and lost 3 demerit points each. One of the drivers was found to be exceeding the limit by 24kmh while another was driving an unregistered car.

School zones in Victoria operate between 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on school days. Many of the zones mean the speed is reduced to 40kmh during those times.

Police will continue to patrol schools to enforce the limit.
